I purchased an X595 earlier this year and am generally pleased with the tractor. It is an expensive garden tractor and there are many arguments for going with a compact utitlity tractor instead. In my case, I was looking for a premium garden tractor. I also have a TC40D compact utility so I can do the larger jobs that require a loader with the Newholland. If I only had one tractor I probably would go for a smaller compact utility and try to do all of the jobs as best I could. But for the customer looking for a large garden tractor who probably will never need a loader this tractor works well. It is easier to get around trees, swingsets, clothelines, well heads, etc, with a garden tractor rather than the compact utility. I find the ROPS even if it folds to be nuisance. For mowing, spraying, hauling firewood, the X595 work nicely. It is amazing what this will pull in 4WD. I have the heavy duty tires (gator) that have incredible traction yet are gentle on the lawn. The Yanmar diesel is a great engine. The new 2210 may provide a little more "bang for the buck" but for many customers its still too big. The customer who has a need for a loader will want to move up to a compact utility. THe garden tractor size (even with 4WD) I doubt has enough tractor to be able to do real work. I would like to chat with someone who has an X585 or X595 and had a loader attached to see how well it does. But I would think the lack of weight and hydraulic capacity would limit its effectiveness. The X tractors are expensive but I don't see any other tractor out there in its class. The other manufacturers seem to have let this size tractor go to John Deere and have concentrated on the subcompact size. Kubota has been quite successful with the BX line. But JD sold a ton of the 425,445 and 455s and now the X tractors seem to have sold well. There appears to be a strong market for the large premium garden tractor. Now, if only JD had installed a two-speed axle and turning brakes on the X tractors. Oh well, maybe with the next series.
