When I first started looking at tractors, I initially considered the x495 model, but decided on the 4010 as it fit my needs better.

Does anyone out there own one of the x-series models and if you do, what are your thoughts on the machine. My brother currently has 2 425's and is considering trading one in for a new model.

What is he going to use it for? For the $$ I'd buy a 2210. But if he only wants the ultimate garden tractor, then that's another story.

Hazmat

Mainly lawn cutting and leaf collection. He has a Bobcat for snow removal, dirt moving, etc. I saw a 2210 when I was up at my dealer. Looks like a bigger motor than my 4010, but lighter duty trator overall.

I had the same delimma earlier this year. I was looking at a x5series and later decided on the 4010. If horsepower is the issue I don't think it should be. I usually run out of traction before power. I do like the controls a little better on the 4110 but I don't know if it justifies the extra cost.

I purchased an X595 earlier this year and am generally pleased with the tractor. It is an expensive garden tractor and there are many arguments for going with a compact utitlity tractor instead. In my case, I was looking for a premium garden tractor. I also have a TC40D compact utility so I can do the larger jobs that require a loader with the Newholland. If I only had one tractor I probably would go for a smaller compact utility and try to do all of the jobs as best I could. But for the customer looking for a large garden tractor who probably will never need a loader this tractor works well. It is easier to get around trees, swingsets, clothelines, well heads, etc, with a garden tractor rather than the compact utility. I find the ROPS even if it folds to be nuisance. For mowing, spraying, hauling firewood, the X595 work nicely. It is amazing what this will pull in 4WD. I have the heavy duty tires (gator) that have incredible traction yet are gentle on the lawn. The Yanmar diesel is a great engine. The new 2210 may provide a little more "bang for the buck" but for many customers its still too big. The customer who has a need for a loader will want to move up to a compact utility. THe garden tractor size (even with 4WD) I doubt has enough tractor to be able to do real work. I would like to chat with someone who has an X585 or X595 and had a loader attached to see how well it does. But I would think the lack of weight and hydraulic capacity would limit its effectiveness. The X tractors are expensive but I don't see any other tractor out there in its class. The other manufacturers seem to have let this size tractor go to John Deere and have concentrated on the subcompact size. Kubota has been quite successful with the BX line. But JD sold a ton of the 425,445 and 455s and now the X tractors seem to have sold well. There appears to be a strong market for the large premium garden tractor. Now, if only JD had installed a two-speed axle and turning brakes on the X tractors. Oh well, maybe with the next series.

Over the past couple of months I looked at the X585, X595 and last week the 2210. They are all excellent tractors. However, in my area the dealers will not discount very much. I ended up buying a Kubota BX2200 because the price was over $1000 less and I judged the quality to be about the same as the JD models. The price of the X595 was more than the 2210.

I was impressed by the quality of all of these machines.

Hello,

I have about 70 hours on my X595 now and love it. I have the 48" mower deck with the 2 bag collection system, the 45 loader and the 47" 2 stage snow blower.

I have been very happy with the tractor. I love the diesel and the amount of time in between fuel fills.

I have pushed the loader to its limit and found that it is capable of handling the vast majority of what I need it for. I am a homeowner and have multiple projects that we have been working on around the yard. Again, the 45 FEL has been a capable little loader.

The only lifting that the loader strains with is wet dirt/sand and large rocks. But, I relaize that the loader was not designed for that kind of use. Especially as the photo in the brochure shows it carrying a load of bark mulch.

I have been very pleased with the 47" snow blower. I live in New Hampshire and we have had one of the worst winters in recent history in terms of both cold (almost 30 nights below 0' F) and snow fall, including 1 25" snow storm.

Even with all of the cold nights we had, many getting down to -10' F the diesel started on the first try, everytime.

But the real test for me came last February when we had a major blizzard. I was working during our most of the blizard, so when I finally got home I had to snowblow my driveway (approx. 500') with about 24" of snow covering it at 3am. The X595 and the 47" SB handled it without fail. I was also very glad to have 4WD as the tractor is parked in a shed in the backyard about 100' from the driveway and has to travel over a snow and ice covered path to get out.

I wish there was backhoe capability, but I relaize that I can always rent one for the few times I will need that ability. All in all I have been very happy with this machine.

I'm glad to see positive reviews for it. I was browsing at the dealer and noticed the valve that operates the implements. I make the dang thing!! (I work for Deere Supplier) Kinda made me proud.

The X-series is a really nice tractor, but the same is true for me as it is most people, I need a CUT more than garden tractor.
