JD1010C
I have a JD1010C diesel and it is a basket case. The machine was converted from a generator to an alternator and all of the wires are hanging. The fuel system is also in disarray with many of the fuel lines broken and hanging. Does anyone have a picture the fuel system un-modified? I have been looking for a wiring schematic as well. HELP

Here's the inj line parts schematic. I hope you realize that a 1010 diesel is one of the sorriest engines JD ever built. The engine blocks have a long history of cracking between the cyl liner holes. 1010/2010 diesels are prone to emit a lot of smoke upon initial start up.

Does the alternator have a built in regulator or separate regulator?

I "assume" that the regulator is built in

Just two terminals

With two terminals, large is output and goes to starter solenoid (same terminal as battery connects to). Small terminal needs 12v to start the alternator charging. Normally comes from key switch, a wire that is hot when the key is ON. It should have the alternator light in the circuit. 12v from key switch to alternator light, then to alternator. This light will NOT have a ground. Light will be ON when key is ON, and go OFF when the alternator starts charging. Think of it as battery voltage coming from the key to the light, and once the alternator starts to charge alternator voltage going back towards the light. The voltages cancel and light will go out.

You might want to have the alternator tested.

Do your injection lines look something like this...

I don't what PC your schematic came from but it definitely wasn't from a 1010 PC because 1010 inj pump mounts vertical not horizontal.

I will post some pics as soon as the weather breaks and I can get to the barn. It was -24 here today at the house.

Here are 2 pictures. one of the fule side and one of the electrical side. Sorry for the delay but the weather just wouldn't cooperate. This machine is a crawlet, not a tractor if that makes a difference

What you have is a GM alternator. There are lots of sites which describe how to convert them to a simple installation which is all you really need.
Here is one of the sites:
Delco SI Alternator 1-Wire vs 3-Wire Explained
It basically requires an external jumper and then the alternator will start charging as soon as the engine starts.
The down side is no warning light to tell you it is not working.

You are welcome.
Post back if you are unsuccessful in getting the charging system to work.
One of the dangling wires, likely the heaviest or thickest, will be going to the battery or to the battery terminal on the starter solenoid.
If you can establish that is where it goes, you can connect it to the threaded terminal on the back of the alternator and just tape up the other wires individually so they don't short against each other or any metal part of the machine.
