I've had my JD2305 for 3 summers now, and finally got around to replacing the blades on it this summer. Shortly after putting on my new Oregon Brand Blades, something didn't feel right with the mower. It looked like the belt was shaking much more than normally, so I assumed (hoped) I had an out of balance blade. I removed all three blades off my 62" deck and then put the deck back on the tractor. When I pulled the PTO button, the belt shook just like before so I ruled it out that I had a blade issue. When I put the new blades on for the first time, I did lay the deck on it's back (in the grass) and then changed out the blades. Is there a chance that I bent the pulley or bracket to witch the deck's gearbox attaches too? There does appear to be a bend in the heavy gauge metal brackets that the gearbox is attached to, but I have not looked at one on a dealers lot to see how they compare.

Thanks

Anything is possible but that deck is pretty sturdy and I think you would have to drive over it with a pick-up truck to bend something. I doubt just rolling it over in the grass would hurt it. The belt does vibrate some. If the deck does not shake the tractor anymore than usual your probably ok to use.

I have to be honest, I wish I had never bought my 2305 and I am still having trouble with the deck height knob not working, but the deck is pretty tough. My son has mown some areas you would not believe with ours and it has not damaged anything. The deck belts are pretty thin and do bounce around some, but the deck itself has proven to be pretty strong; turning it over wouldn't hurt it even if you tried.

Check the belt itself. Sometimes when belts start to wear out and/or shred they start to rattle and wobble.

Just had a similar problem yesterday. Deck started to rattle and shake and I thought a blade was about to come off. What I found surprised me. Looks like a stick or rock got between the belt and center blade pulley and bent the pulley in one spot. As the belt rotates around the pulley it vibrates as the belt hits the bent spot and back out again.

I've attempted to bend the pulley back into shape, but without a press, I couldn't get it good enough for the belt to smoothly go around the pulley without some shaking. So, its off to the dealer for another pulley I guess.
