JD2520 and Bewarcat 70554 with QH15

Just got the Landpride QH15 quick hitch. After some modification to the top hook (releaving it so it would fit low enough to pick up my box blade) I went to my chipper shredder. The adjustable feature of the QH15 works like a charm. Moved the hook up to fit the bearcat and it was good to go. My question is about the overlap for the PTO shaft. Does anyone know what the specs are for this unit. I have about 4" of overlap with this setup and was wondering if that is enough.

Four inches of overlap on the shaft (not the protective guard) should be plenty. Consider the surface area in contact on the shaft over four inches, and then consider the amount of metal/contact in the universal joints. You should have plenty of mass in four inches to get the job done. I'm always amazed how well those universal joints hold up as thin as they are!

It seems to work fine. Thanks for the response. I'll post some pictures when I find my card reader. Just got the house put back together from damage during the fires in Oct.
