( I will be purchasing a tractor. I've narrowed it down to onw of the following three 4WD tractors;
JD-5105
Kubota M4900 SUD
NH TC-45
I will be using it to maintain 48 acres that I own and will be mowing about 5 acres of the 48 on a regular basis. Additionally, I will be using it to clear various portions of the 48 acres for hay production. I'm looking for a tractor that is reliable, easy to maintain and strong enough to handle my intended uses.)
If you don't intend to run a baler with the tractor, then you are probably OK with these, or quite possibly even a little bit smaller machine.
On the other hand if you want to bale, then you probably want much bigger tractors than these. The rule of thumb around here (we had to buy a tractor capable of being an emergency backup for baling so we found this out this year) is that you really ought to have 50 PTO hp to bale at all, and a lot more (like 80 PTO hp) if you want to bale on a regular basis. If this tractor will be your emergency backup baler tractor (like our TN65 is) then only the Kubota M4900 would be close.
