The previous owner installed antifreeze, today I was told that antifreeze attacks rubber and that is what ruined the valve stem. Needless to say, I prefer just air.
i guess 1,000 upon 1,000 of folks running antifreeze in there tires, to using antifreeze in spray rigs for winter, to mobile homes / camping trailers with RV solution for over winter doing. are in big trouble.
sounds more likely company that came out to fix tire. wanted to charge you more for there own solution and rake in more cash for them.
CAL (calcium chloride) basically salt water = can rust out rims quickly.
Tube was replaced, and the rim and tire looks fine as does the valve stem hole, albeit slightly corroded. The tire in question did lose 2/3 of its fluid, so I had them both drained out and will plan on using my box blade or ballast box if need be for weight.
