Possible if you know someone with a horoscope you could pull a hose off the water pump and get a look at impeller fins? That would save pulling the pump to check it out? Old antifreeze in diesels is tough on water pumps.

Possibly meant a borescope ?

I got the results of the oil test back. They didn't find bearing material but they did find "cylinder-area" material. It doesn't look like it's a lot and I haven't found shavings in the oil pan. So I'm theorizing that it's "normal" wear and tear from condensation and winter starting or something? Any thoughts? Unless someone says this means the engine it shot I think i'll proceed with my head gasket replacement. The temperature readings appear to indicate that the water is circulating when the overheating begins so I believe the diagnosis that this is a failed gasket/warped head leaking hot air into the coolant is still consistent, right? Here's the quote from my oil test:

"We didn't find any fuel dilution or coolant in this oil, and probably not any bearing material either
since we suspect those are lead/tri-metal in this engine. There's a lot of cylinder-area metal though. Chrome
and iron are particularly high. Chrome comes from piston rings and iron is from steel parts -- in this case,
probably cylinder liners. Aluminum shows piston wear (though in some engines, it is a bearing metal) while
copper is from brass/bronze."

I do not think taking the head off and replacing the head gasket will hurt anything but I do not think that is your over heating issue unless your head gasket is really bad. The metal in the oil is a bad sign but while you have the head off is a good time to look at things.

Have you replaced the water pump? Any chance a hose is collapsing? I’m grasping at straws here.

I keep going back to where you say you burned up all the oil and am thinking the worse, such as major engine damage.

With the history of severe overheating and "burning up the oil" along with the result of the oil analysis, my guess is you have cylinder scoring and piston galling. Did you ever get the compression check done? If your pistons and cylinders are damaged it should show in the compression check. I would do the compression check first and if it is not normal, then pull the head and this will give you an opportunity to see the cylinder walls. If the cylinder walls show any abnormalities, then drop the pan, remove the pistons, inspect pistons, rings, and cylinders and have them measured with a micrometer. If you get this far into it, you should inspect the crankshaft, rod and main bearings and recondition or replace as required.

I did a Google on your tractor and over heating. The only thing that came up is someone who was over fueling. The fuel tank must overflow Near the radiator. It was pulling fuel into the radiator from over filling and plugging up the radiator. Even if the engine is damaged I am not sure it explains the over heating.

The possibilities, bad radiator, plugged radiator, plugged water passages in the engine, bad thermostat, collapsed hoses, bad fan, engine over fueling badly, and probably a few things I am not thinking of.
