JD\'s made in China

Well, we all know the JD Japanese connection with Yanmar but look at their larger sized tractors manufactured in China. The JD6403 is Chinese.

Wow, I love it.

Thanks

Re: JD\'s made in China

Don't believe everything you see. If that is a Chinese built JD it is probably a grey market. Intended for sale and use in another country. I have seen European grey market JD's for sale over here. According to JD's official web site here is what their American version JD6403 looks like.

Re: JD\'s made in China

Yep, it probably is a Deere made for the overseas market. But, it is still a Deere and has their name on it. I don't think that their name would be on it if they thought it was an inferior product. I would say that to compete in the cheaper markets that they had to keep their production costs down.
I guess those chinamen can build a decent product afterall. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: JD\'s made in China

It appears that JD has different manuals, probably for all the different versions of the 6403. I don't think ANY of these Chinese JDs are for Amercian consumption. Unless one of our members wants to be the first guy on the Chinese Tractor Board with a Chinese JD. Might be expensive to ship though. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well it was a good laugh while it lasted fellas, but remember don't be a "playa-hater" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: JD\'s made in China

The post never said it was an American market product. It just stated that Jd produced a tractor made in China. So the fact remains that it is a JD made in China. Ouch! That has to hurt those green guys! Relax ...i'm just teasing a little about it, because it seems funny. I'm sure it's a good product...probably just overpriced.

That may be a misconception. JD was the cheapest tractor I could buy where I could be ASSURED of local dealers, mechanics who knew the product and parts availability.

MF, AGCO, Kubota were all higher $$$ in my area. The other choices I am sure would have worked but I didn't want to be the first guy on the block to try X brand.

Oh, since we're all friends here and having a lil' fun... it is nice to own a JD because it's an excellent machine and for the following resons:

1. people stop and admire your tractor
2. "My husband really wants a John Deere"
3. the other version-" I really wanted a John Deere, but"
3. "My next tractor is gonna be a John Deere"
4. "Wow, John Deere, huh"
etc.

Re: JD\'s made in China

Kukje (Centruy/Branson) also builds John Deere's in South Korea. They are built for the Asian market. Many Caterpilars are built by Shin Caterpilar Mitsubishi in Japan. It's an international marketplace.

Actually I think they would put their name on anything they thought they could make money with. The fact that they build a Deere in China for a foreign market doesn't impress me. Build one over there, bring it over here, make it competetively priced, good quality, good support and then I will be impressed. I'm shopping for a new tractor right now. I have priced more than the big 3. I have also looked at Mahindra and Century/Branson. I have been a Deere fan for years and now I am disappointed that I probably won't buy one because of the price. For the money the AGCO is my choice at this point.
