I watch Jeopardy nearly every day and really like the show even though it often makes me feel like an idiot. They often have a category that most of the people on this forum would think are easy that they can’t get.

A few weeks ago they had a question on cars. I can’t remember the exact wording of the question but something like “if the radiator removes the heat the from an engine what circulates the coolant”. One guy rings in and says “compressor”. Wrong answer but I can sort of see where he’s coming from. The next guy rings in and says “carburetor “. That’s when I started screaming at the tv “it’s the water pump you idiots”.

Yeah, that one stood out for me as well. But every time I tell myself I'd do well on there I have to think that I'd end up with categories like opera, European philosophers and Shakespeare instead of radial engines, machine shop, and things I'd like to do with Jan, from the Toyota commercials.
It is interesting to note how dumbed-down the celebrity matches are. Not quite SNL bad, but close.

Broadway musicals is another bummer category for me. At one time I would always just answer Cats, no matter what the question. Now sometimes I’ll say Hamilton.

I saw that episode and screamed the same thing. 😂

Ditto. When the one person said carb I lost it. But I get very little of all the literature and renaissance art stuff... The way they ask many of their questions I can't even tell what they want for an answer. They just don't make any sense as they are so convoluted.

The questions get harder to more money they're worth... I'm more of a top half of the board kinda player. 😂

But for some reason, I go about 70% on finally Jeopardy.

Of course, I bet all of everyone else's money. :p

Ya, my wife and I really get ticked when Jeopardy isn't on because it is preempted for some worthless show. I get about all the medical related questions and she knows the European questions. Surprising how I need extra time much of the time to remember the answer. Those contestants have excellent recall.

I used to go to the "minitrucktalk" forum pretty regular. The level of ineptitude some of those folks displayed scared me. But I hung around and tried to give them solid advice for a couple of years. Folks who had never turned a wrench, buying little Japanese trucks, for which parts are either very expensive or just plain unobtainable. No manuals in English, and carburetors with point ignitions. They were completely lost.

I also like testing myself on some of the categories, although most of them are totally out of my wheelhouse.
Years ago jeopardy was on at two different times, so I watched the first one then totally shocked my wife while watching the second airing with her.
We still watch it together once in a while.

We looked forward to watching it in 2004. Mrs.tiller was recovering from open heart surgery so we had a lot of downtime, and we were amazed at Ken Jennings breadth of knowledge.
