Jerky Hitch Fixed!

The repair is an adjustment to the control valve under the 3 point hitch cover. Apperantly at the factory they mis adjusted these (did not read spec carefully maybe). Anyway, any dealer can do it. If they do not know how, they can call the Kubota Tech line and get help. This applys to L3200 and L3800s only. It is my understanding that they do not have serial number breaks on which ones were incorrectly adjusted. As a side note for other threads, there is no "other" or "better" valve for the L3200 and L3800s. Just the one and it works well when adjusted properly.

This is exactly what my dealer told me. And considering they fixed it, i believe them. I actually thought I was about to shell out $$$ on a Grand L hyd valve to eliminate the jerk...

I'm here in Houston and just got my L3800 from Allied Power Mart in Splendora. I do have the jerky 3-pt. hitch and would like to get it fixed. After reading other threads I thought it was a problem I was going to have to live with but now it seems something can be done.

Any one have a dealer in Houston that knows how to adjust this properly? And is this something that can be done in the field or does the tractor have to be hauled to the dealer?

Thanks!

The tractor will have to be brought to the dealer to be fixed. Contact the dealer and tell them about the problem. If all else fails contact Kubota Corp and they will have a service rep look at the tractor and advise the dealer on what the fix is.

My dealer is going to come and pick up my tractor to look at this problem. The service guy said he has never heard of this issue on the "L" series. Am I going to run into some roadblocks here or be wasting my time having them pick it up?

When they do pick it up what is the best way to ensure they get it fixed? If they call the tech support line at Kubota is that going to be enough for them to fix this correctly?

Thanks for the help with this problem. I definitely want a smooth 3-pt.

If they call the rep or tech line, it will get fixed. They do not want to pic it up and do nothing to help you. I would give them a shot, give them a couple of days, and then call them and see what they found. Just my 2 cents worth.

OK thanks. It's an outstanding tractor save for that one problem.

It sounds like it can be fixed.

Thanks again.

Can you shoot a video of it and post on Youtube and link it here? Just to see how bad it is. They are not all bad... but would like to see what yours is like.

I went to the dealer with my mind set of leaving the tractor and not getting it back until it was fixed.I went for the "calm yet demanding" approach considering cussing and stomping has never got anything fixed for me before.. Then waited and then waited through the holidays. The dealer contacted Kubota which in turn said they knew there was a problem but I would have to pay for the parts. That led me to call Kubota Corp myself and get a tech to advise the dealer on what to do to fix the problem. It took several weeks with the holidays to get my tractor back, but it was all worth the wait...As far as how bad the jerk was, mine would literally lift the front-end off the ground when using it. Now i can lift a pail of water without spilling a ounce.

Correction to my previous note, the L2800/3400/4400/3200/3800 (at least the late production of the L2800/3400) all have the same valve on them. It is my understanding (from customers and TBN users) that when this valve is adjusted correctly, it operates well with in customer expectations. Please note that the early L2800 and L3400 did have a differant valve that did not have the same operating charactoristics as the "better" valves. Sorry for the confusion, TEG got me straight on this.

I've seen the jerk on an MX4700 and my MX5100 does it a little if I move the 3pt slowly. I think it does it less if the hyd. fluid is warmed up. Not sure what valve the MX series has, but for now, I've decided to just live with it.

Yes, my MX4700 is fairly rough if I try to make a small movement, but it isn't bouncing the front wheels off the ground with 1000lbs on the 3pt. If you move the lever two or three numbers on the indicator it travels smoothly. However, if you try to tweak a small raise on the implement it jerks a fair amount.

I would be interested how the valve and issue compares.
