I have heard of it. It requires an additive that gives the jet fuel lubricative properties. I have also heard that you can add biodiesel or vegetable oil to jet fuel to give it the lubricative properties. The additive that you use for the jet fuel is probably just sulfur, which is what gives regular diesel fuel it's lubricative properties.
I have heard of people who work on airplanes using it to run their diesel trucks. They have to drain aviation fuel out of tanks and their companies then pay to have it disposed of. The managers of the shops let the shopworkers have it for free.
I don't know where the additive for jet fuel is available for sale, but I know that a lot of airports use the jet fuel to run their fuel trucks and other support equipment, since they already have a lot of it on hand. They have to get it from somewhere.
Hope this helps.
