Re: Jim\'s new projects

Teeth on a bucket seem to help with the problems I have with loading a bucket with rocks.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

Good idea MR. I do have some teeth that I can mount on the bucket. I'll do that.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

The tooth bucket worked really well, thanks for the idea.

I found the best way to scoop the rocks is to put the teeth into the bottom of the pile and ride the bucket up as I move forward. Any other suggestions would be great.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

Here's a picture of the tooth bar mounted on my big bucket. It is off of my Massey that I sold 5 years ago and fits very well. I drilled two mounting holes in the side of the bucket to hold it in place. I need to drill the holes out to a larger size as the 3/8" bolts that are in there right now will not hold up.

I need something more like 5/8" /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That toothbar sure looks nice on there! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

No trouble getting rocks stuck between the teeth?

I don't have teeth on my PT buckets, but have on rare occasion got rocks [slightly more often, wood] stuck in the teeth on the manure bucket of the farm tractor - I think that has closer teeth though.

No problems tonight when I was using it. The stone I was moving was R4, about 4"-10" in size. I like this tooth bar much more than the PT version of teeth for the bucket. I can remove the whole thing with two bolts, the teeth are replacable and it rides on the bottom of the teeth like a skid steer.

More construciton pics to follow. I expect delivery of the building this week and then to start construction next week.

I still have a lot of stone to move before then /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: Jim\'s new projects

This is the rock pile that I was working from. I have put in about 6 hours total spreading the rock into the stream bed.

Two big truck loads /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: Jim\'s new projects

I'v laid in most of the stone along the stream bed with the first pass. Now I need to go back and put another layer down, then spread it out a little.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

FINALLY, the first delivery!

They dropped off the concrete, windows, doors, poles and the rest of the stuff to do the basic frame. We start drilling holes, and pouring concrete on Monday! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The stone pile is getting a lot smaller!

Re: Jim\'s new projects

We were out looking at concrete retaining wall blocks yesterday and found some that look very much like stone block walls, not just the typical retaining wall stuff that you see in Home Depot.

This will match nicely for my retaining wall around the building!

And, the company that makes them is right here in New Holland, PA!

Now we have a couple of claims to fame, New Holland tractors and New Holland concrete! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nice work!
How often does the stream fill with water?

Only when it rains now. It used to run continuously, but some guy up the hill from me did some major landscaping and redirected the primary source. When it rains, the stream bed can erode quite a bit of soil, thus the rocks the break it up.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

We started on the building today. I finally moved the rest of the rock into it's own pile away from the pad.

The guys working on the poles were fun to watch. Not rocket science, but very accurate and efficient.

(I'm glad they were doing it and let me help)
