My YM240D is a 2 cyl with hp similar to your JM224.
It runs a 5' Woods brush hog in high thick field grass and light brush without difficulty.

Your meadow looks like an easy job for a 5' brush hog on your JM224.

Instructions for how to measure and cut are included. It is not a big deal. Its required because different tractors have different length lift arms, and 3 pt hitch dimentions. The only pto equipment I own, is the cutter. I believe it is standard for all pto equipment.

Which brand is your 5' Hog?

Next year, if all goes well, I will be getting a cutter for my 224, and I'm thinking 5 footer as well.

Won't know till you measure it.

As John said.. the 5' KK that TSC sells is a decent unit. i ran one for a few years behind my ex-NH 1920.. that tractor would easilly handle a 6' mower. i cut anthills, tires, buried lumber, rocks.. etc... Popped a shear pin or two.. but that's it.

If you want to see a 15$ guard for the kk, here is what I made for mine using a 4$ semi-truck mudflap, and some perfed angle iron from tsc, plus some misc nut / bolt hardware. It mounted up almost perfect tot he bolt pattern on the KK a-frame. I had to 'hog' out one hole on each support bar to make it a perfect fit. Really really cuts down on the debri kicked out.

Its a BUSHHOG SQ60 SQEALER. I think its about 15 yrs old, but was
seldom used and kept inside.
