Followup up tach and hour meter question - Have old style round single gauge tach with the hour meter built in. 2003 Jimna 254 Yangdong Y385 engine - Was not working when I purchased the tractor last year. Investigated and found the rpm sensor had bad wires. Replaced the sensor today with a new unit from Affordable in Texas. Received advice last year about adjustment of the sensor which was "run it in until it touches the flywheel , then back off 3/4 turn. Too close and the sensor will be destroyed and too far out and it will not work." Did that and the tach still not working. Also have checked, removed and cleaned each electrical connection on the back of the tach, and fwiw, the tach light does work. Anyone have other ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Have you confirmed continuity of the wires between the sensor and the tach?
Have you confirmed power to the tach? According to a schematic I have for a different year, the tach gets its power through the headlight fuse. Not sure where the power for the tach light comes from as that is not on this schematic.
Does one of the wires from the sensor go to ground? If so does it have good continuity back to the battery?
