How did you verify it was overheating?

You need to give us all the details you can for us to help lead you in the right direction.

Not a very good method to test but I used 2 meat thermometers and compared the temps to my gauge. I took 4 readings when my gauge was between 80 and 95. From the results I know the gauge is reading somewhat accurately. I did a boil test on each thermometer before starting.

I took out the thermostat to test it and it is faulty. It didn't even open when the water got to the boiling point. Does anyone know of a cross reference thermostat that will work.

Here is what you need I think. Stant PN 45358 rated at 82C

Also take your cap and get a Stant Cap. I think its a Stant 10282 rated at 7psi. You want 7psi. Just match it up. Some Jinma caps are reported to say 15psi but that is wrong. All 200 series Jinma's need a 7psi cap or less. You will probably have a issue finding anything less than 7psi so that is what most run.

Best thing to do is take your old one's with you. I do know you want something around 82C on the T-stat. 7psi on the cap. I am not at home or I could verify the numbers for you so for now the two Stant numbers I am giving are what I think is needed, not 100% sure. Maybe someone else can verify.

My guess is a head gasket leak. Not if it was brought up. I had a streetbike with the same issues. Unexplainable problems. It was a head gasket though.

I have a 2007 JM254. I did my retorque and have not had any issues. Fingers crossed.

If all the standard fixes go no ware there is a overlooked cause. Try running with the hood propped open an inch or two, if that keeps the engine from overheating you have found the problem but do not know why. With the hood closed there is a 4 inch gap between the top of the radiator and the hood. With the engine compartment tightly cowled it is easer to re-circulate the hot air from the back of the radiator through the gap than draw cool air into the engine compartment. The solution is to block the gap with foam rubber and force the fan to draw in only cool air.
