Don't see why not, haven't used that style myself.
Seems quite a bit more expensive than the stock V-belt.
Grainger has it for $5.35 or so.

Still fixing up the used chipper I bought. Can't understand why the gearbox that powers the feed roller is set so high on the machine. It seems to create a larger than needed angle for the drive shaft to the feed roll, even when the roll is lifted. I've read about the strain on this drive causing the end joints to wear out. Has anyone tried lowering the gear box so there is less angle in the drive train? any other thoughts on this?

On a separate matter, I like the way some people have added a step mechanism to raise the feed roller, instead of using the bar above the infeed hopper. I would need to attach it to the two horizontal bars that connect to the feed roller bearings. It looks like these are made of pipe from the way they are flattened at the roller end. Does anyone know the inside diameter of this pipe? It's welded at the end, so there's no direct access. I was thinking of cutting off the end plug and inserting 1 inch round bar for about a foot, as the anchor end of my step.

Quote From Will: As for the modification of the feed roller drive shaft "U-joint", I had to replace one end of mine w/ a 1/2 inch impact wobbly.
So far so good with about 4 hrs of use.

I did this too. I used a wobble impact socket. Works well and will probably last forever, but Im having trouble fastening itto the telescopic shaft in a lasting fashion. I have adhered it into the original socket that stripped out. It breaks loose occasionally on max sized stuff when the roller hits its upper stop. How did you fasten the two sides of the swivel?

I wondered how your impact socket U joint has held up on the chipper and whether you ahve any pictures.
Thanks.

Why are you hung up on mfg. Look at Ford and GM. They out source tons. So does JD , AGCO, etc. It is the way of the world. Find a product with good support (JD, GM), and that is from top to bottom. Don't worry about what 12 man shop made it. Saving money on e-bay is good but if you by a unsupported product be careful. I have bought tons from e-bay saved a few bucks vs retail but always from solid mfg. When you have a porblem you can call the mfg for support. Just my 2 cents.

So what's your point?

Hi, been reading the post and trying to understand it all. Seems like most of the modifications are not all that big of deal. But from all the different responses sort of hard to keep track. Can some one who is up to speed on these and list the "must do before you spin it over" fixes. I was reading the one on cleaning out the cheap grease. If I was 20 years younger I would have thought grease is grease and it cant make a differece. But having seen some examples of conterfit copies of you name it over here in Iraq where there are no inspectors to weed out inferior parts or products. I would have to side with the person who posted that little tib bit of clean that crap out. Most of the posters here have the 6in version of the Jimma with all the mods that some have had made will this pretty much handle everything you throw at it with in reason or would you have gone with the 8in version. I am a bit bored over here so trying to learn some. I got a dealer really close and he post on here so I feel like after reading some of his responses that I would have some good support if something did go wrong.
