Jinma will not start - how to check injector delivery?

The fuel lines, from the fuel tank to the lift pump are essentially gravity fed - there is no fuel pump until you get to the lift pump side of the injection pump assembly. The first part of the assembly is the lift pump which delivers fuel to the pressure side of the assembly where it then has its pressure boosted to injector pressure. If you remove the fuel line from the intake side of the lift pump you should get a moderate trickle of fuel. Say, a cup of fuel in a minute or two. The other place you check fuel flow is at the injectors themselves. Take the hard line off the injector and crank the engine - you should get definite spurts of fuel. The lift system delivers more fuel to the injector pump than it needs most of the time so there is a return line to the tank to carry the excess back.

My Jinma tractor will not start. Have put a new starter in, but is not getting fuel delivery. It starts and runs fine on an ether shot, so what do I need to ckeck next? I am thinking injectors or fuel line...any advice? Anybody know of any online "how to" video sites for Jinma specifically?
Thanks

A little more information would help. Is it a new tractor, an old tractor, what model tractor etc.

A couple of things that tend to be overlooked.

How old is the tractor - new, fairly new, old or purchased used with new past history ???? What model tractor is it ????

A couple of things that tend to be overlooked.

1) Fuel pump governor. This is attached to the fuel rack of the injector pump and is lubricated with it's own oil. If this oil level is low, old and dirty or contains water resulting in rust, the operation of the governor could very well be compromised and the end result that the "fuel rack" is in the off position resulting in no fuel delivery.

Check level, drain and flush with desiel and refill with proper lube oil (new oil ).

2) On the side of the injection pump, the shut off pull cable connects to the end of a rack that moves when the cable is pulled. Extrem positions either way, will give you either "off" and no fuel delivery, or "max. fuel delivery" in the other direction. On my tractor, this cable is secure by a little bolt with the cable going through a hole. If the cable stretches, gets loose or the bolt loosens off, the fuel rack operation can easily change. If the cable slips through there wil often be insuffucient movement for the fuel rack to move to admit fuel. Conversly, the fuel shut off may need to be given more "fuel" when starting.

Try checking screw/ bolt at fuel rack for tightness. Try starting with the fuel lever in the mid position - i.e. halfway between max fuel and min fuel, to ensure some fuel is actually capable of being delivered. Lots of people forget to move the fuel to the run position and cannot start the engine 'cos it ain't getting fuel.

If you are getting fuel at the injection pump then either the fuel rack isn't working properly or the governor is stickiing.

Rich and Jim,
Thanks for replying back. I have a Farm Pro 2420 20hp 2wd TY290X engine that I bought new in 2004. This is the first time it wouldn't start since I got the tractor. After cutting grass for a couple of hours about a month ago I parked it then when I tried starting it about two weeks later the motor would turn over but never fire up. I noticed the oil was low so I topped it off. Next I remove ths sediment bulb and when I went to put it back on it snapped off at the tank. I order a new one and installed it still wouldn't start. Then I pumped the primer lever, took the fuel lines loose at the engine and there was fuel coming out. It seemed like more was coming out of one than the other. Sprayed a little starter fluid at the air breather the engine turned over a little faster but still didn't crank. Thanks.

MTaylor - actually we've been replying to Borktown. As not to confuse who's got which tractor with what problem, I suggest you start a thread of your own. Please state whether your FarmPro is equipped with compression release

I had my Jinma 254 not start after I shut it down one day. The next morning the engine would crank with no fuel...The problem was the plunger in the fuel pump got stuck in the fuel "off" position, however the fuel shutoff lever moved freely. I believe I took the back off of the fuel pump and found the problem...pretty straight forward.

I had fuel delivery problems also, found out there was some kind of junk in tank plugging it up,the little filter in tank was actually collapsed, removed that filter it was no good flushed tank as good as possible. Cut the fuel line went to Napa and got a clear on line filter and put it on works great:)
