JM 284 blows 10A pre-heat fuse

My new JM 284 instantly blows the 10A pre-heat fuse when turning the key to the pre-heat position. It seems like this should not be too complicated but without a wiring diagram it is difficult to trace. Any help is appreciated. I do not know if this is related but none of the front lights work either. So far, I've brush hogged for 20 hours and love the performance, the seat, the power steering, and the tractor seems very rugged. Thanks.

the pre heat fuse is supposed to be 30A, that might help!

Yep, the glow plugs pull nearly 30 amps and need a 30 amp fuse in that slot. If you have lights out, you might have other fuses blown.

Been running over any rough stuff/brush? How is the wireing under the tractor? The wireing that feeds the rear lights is a little vulnerable where it runs under the floor boards and up the outside of the fender wells. I ripped out mine on some brush while mowing which shorted it and blew the fuse when I applied the brakes. When I did my 50 hour maintenance, I re-wired the rear lights keeping the wires above the floorboards out of harms way.

Thanks for the prompt replys. The cover for the fuse box says this is supposed to be a 10 amp fuse. Knowing the heavy draw of the glow plugs, I assumed the 10 amp might feed a relay for a heavier circuit. Are you sure this can take a 30 amp in this spot?

I had the same question on my tractor. The plastic reference that says 10 amp is wrong. Put a 30 amp fuse in , change the ignition ( johns web site) and you should not have anymore trouble. Robby
