JM284 hood paint

Hi Spiker,

Thanks for your comments. Yesterday I put a few hours on the tractor, mostly moving some manure and compost to fertilize the field and I certainly forgot about the paint issue

As you said, if I ever want to sell this puppy (hopefully it will stay with me for a long time) I will just take the hood apart, polish and paint it again

I had the same chips on the hood from the crate. I also had a couple chips on one of the fenders from shipping.

I found that the following spray paint is a match for my red Jinma 284 tractor. I think I bought it at Lowes.

Because the original paint was much thicker than the spray paint, I sprayed the paint into the spray can cap until a puddle of liquid formed. Then, I dipped a hobby model brush in it (I've also used an acid brush) and dabbed it into the chipped spot and slowly built up the thickness over a few applications. After a week, I lightly sanded it then I masked it off and sprayed a couple coats to blend it in. Now it doesn't catch the eye any more.

It's a lot less work than it sounds.
