I just don't need one bad enough to drop over 100-120$.. past that I can use my 30/70a stick and 1/16 rods.. BTDT

A competent stick welder really might not see much value in a mig especially if very little work is being done with thin material. IMO, such a person isn't likely to be satisfied with a cheap mig.

so far all my sheet metal work has been done satisfactorilly with a 1/16 rod on a 30a setting on a lil stick .. are you saying that a 110 flux job won't make any prettier bead or any less chance of a burn thru thn the stick? ( honestly don't know as I've only used big migs.. no small flux jobs.. )

IMO, commonly available flux wire is just not good for welding sheet metal. There apparently used to be a specialty 20 gauge flux wire that these guys say was good, but apparently you can't get it any more:

flux cored welding wire

The other issue is your control over the heat settings with a smaller mig. The larger ones have multiple heat settings--the smaller migs tend to have two and good luck if either one happens to be the right one for the sheet metal you're trying to weld.
