John Deere 1050 4WD - Lost Left Rear Wheel Drive

In an effort to free up a frozen brake on the left rear wheel over the winter, I apparently lost the drive on the left rear. The right rear only drives when the differential lock peddle is enguaged.

I have started to disassemble to gain access to the axle housing but have not removed it yet. I did removed the ledt brake cover and found a little.watrer and corrosion on the spring and hardware. The shoes appeared new and the drum surface was smooth.

Before for f go further I wanted to search out some guidance from members who have performed this type of repair.

This is an often enough occurrence at times for these Yanmar made Deeres. A few YT vids are out there.

You probably sheared the brake pinion shaft. I've done this on a JD2030 & a YM1610
