John Deere 110 loader backhoe surging in fwd and reverse

Sitting in the cab it is about floor level in front of your right foot.

Flywheel is behind the engine and the sensor has but a single wire...

Not where the tractor is at the moment or I would take a picture...

Best $50 I ever spent... hoping it's the same for you...
thanks! ill check that out today and see if I can find it....

okay, i found where its supposed to go. it wasnt there so i guess thats why i couldnt find it. it must have been removed. now, i cant find the correct pigtail to plug it into. there is a tail leading to the fuse box that is capped but it doesnt seem to mate with this new sensor i got.

It’s secured with a single bolt to the housing.

Are you missing the bolt and have a hole where the sensor goes?

yeah. the bolt is missing as well. Im referring to the wiring pigtail that is at the other end of the sensor.

I will take a picture this weekend...

Went to the 110 this morning and snapped this picture.

The pig tail is short and it plugs into the harness.

Maybe a running change during production could be a reason not all 110 are the same?

Without the sensor I basically limited to Creep to move forward or reverse.

Back in message 12, "nobhill" had the same problem and traced it to a running change in the sensor. Maybe you can compare serial numbers?

I don't have a JD110, and never have. But I nearly bought one new back in 2007. Went for the Kubota M59 instead. But I've followed the JD110 with some interest ever since.

If that device is indeed a Hall effect sensor, I wonder just what it is sensing from the flywheel or front axle that causes it to affect the surging?
And can that information be supplied to the control circuit in some other way?

This post is a little late, but there is no flywheel sensor in a 2007, they deleted it after serial number 311033. The signal now comes from the alternator. However, I am chasing my own problem. My tractor runs fine and then acts like it pops out of gear. I can let up on the pedal and try again and it works fine. The problem is intermittent. I printed out my electrical and hydraulic schematics and now I have to find all the rest of the sensors and test them. On the early machines everyone pointed out the flywheel speed sensor as the likely culprit, so what is the likely problem for the later machines?
