Hello,
I am working on a JD 2020 with a gas engine that has a marvel schebler TSX904 carb. This carb has a fuel solenoid on the bowl, maybe for a main jet shut off.
This solenoid is no longer actuating but it is free and clear. So, as a quick fix, I put a piece of stainless wire in the port to hold it open. The tractor started up and ran great, drove it around, no stutter or misses.
After about 20 minutes it died and puffed smoke around the engine. I put a couple gallons of gas in, just in case it was too low. When I turn it over, it acts like it wants to start, but then quits.
It isn't flooding, and I know the fuel pump is good. Is there anything to look out for on this particular engine? I have not dove in deep to look at ignition, etc. It seems suspect after my quick fix, but that is open all the time with the key on anyhow.
