Does anyone know how part #25 comes off the shaft on the JD throttle for the early model tractor? From the picture I think it just pulls out of #23, but mine won't budge and I am not sure if I am missing something. It shows a snap ring # 29, but I can't find it and have no idea where it is or how it come off.
I have taken everything else loose, but the hub #25 wont' come up and out.

In all the yrs I was employed at a JD dealer I've never witnessed the disassembly of 2020 speed control lever but my guess is after groove pin(item 24) has been removed that rust is holding item 25 to item 31. May I ask your need for disassembly? I'll guess throttle lever doesn't have any friction to hold it where it's set. If so have you attempted to adjust nut(item 6)?

I probably could have gotten away with not disassembling it. I couldn't shut the tractor off with the lever because it was rusted and wouldn't go up enough. I began inspecting and the spring on the bottom was broken. I thought I will just take it apart, clean it up, put a new spring and it will be great. It would be if l could get this last piece taken apart. The shaft moves down against spring tension inside the hub. I can pull it down and the spring will pull it back up. I just can't figure out how to get to that spring or to pull the shaft out. I have tried tried everything except a torch. Because the hub doesn't come off, I can't lift the shaft high enough to get the broken spring or the threaded bushing that is inside the spring.

I have had a couple of these apart, but it has been many years ago. I remember it being frustrating. Have you removed bolt #33? My guess is it is seized on there and may need a little heat to get it loose. You need to be very careful to not overdo the heat since I am pretty sure the hub is aluminum.
