Just got my new seals installed on my tractor.Load control shaft wasn't wore bad enough to require replacement nor was the inside bushings that hold the shaft. So I just pushed the load control shaft in enough to get to the seals on one side then pushed it the other way to install the other side.Be sure and check your shaft ends where the pin slides thru for burrs or nicks so it doesn't mess up your new seals when it slides thru them.I then added 3 thrust washer on each side to prevent load control shaft from sliding back and forth and wearing the new seals out.The thrust washer's come 5 to a package and cost 41 cents a piece, since I needed 3 on each side, I had to buy 2 packages but for that price I didn't care.I also bought the 2 metal bushings that ride inside the draft link arms, figured they were wore also and adding to the side to side slop.Since the repair,my draft links stay up and don't leak off and fall down.I have a Coleman 1-burner propane stove and I got a pan of water and heated it up so as to put the teflon seals in to soften them up so I could get them in the sealing groove after first putting the rubber o-rings in.The hot water didn't soften the teflon rings up too much but I did manage to get them in without tearing them up so they wouldn't seal. The part number for the o-rings is-A4730R,the teflon seals-T22098,thrust washer's-R66197 and the outside bushings-T22099.I think these same parts will fit the 2240 as well.Wasn't as bad of a repair as I first thought it to be.Just glad to put an end to the dripping hydraulic fluid and the pans trying to keep it off the barn floor. The picture is of the old o-rings and teflon seals, outside bushing's and the 4 leftover thrust washers.Too messy of a job to try and take pictures during the repair.

The one thing I didn't know what to do was the placement of the thrust washer's.Whether to put them before the outside bushing or after the outside bushing. So I put them before the outside bushing up next to the inside bushing. Some illustrations showed before and some showed after.

Here's a few pics of the old teflon seals and o-rings.The teflon seals were deformed to the shape of the o-ring and vise versa for the o-ring.The o-ring was flat on the inside where it rode on the outside of the teflon seal.Went and looked this morning and no leaks plus the lift arms are still up.Got about 5 acres of clover to get mowed today and hope the rain will hold off till late in the week.

My JD2030 uses the same O-Ring (A4730R), but calls for a different seal (T22095) I wonder if since your tractor is newer the seal is updated?
I guess I should see if both tractors use the same bushing the O-Ring and seal go in.
I don't remember if mine has thrust washers or not. Mine needs the seals replaced for the second time in 20 years I have owned it.

On mine it says you are allowed a minimum 2.5mm(0.100") up to 3.7mm(0.145") maximum on the load control shaft side to side movement.Just make sure the hole where your pin goes thru held by the snap ring to hold the outer bushing is burr free so you don't mess up the new seals. After using the tractor to mow Saturday and a little yesterday it is leak free as of this morning so I reckon that is fixed. It had got to the point of leaking maybe a quart over a period of a week.Always had to be checking the hydraulic fluid level and that requires the rockshaft arms to be all the way down with a warmed up engine sitting at idle speed.

On Ebay they have just one of the T22099 bushings left that goes on the outside that slides thru the eye on the draft link lifting arm.$4.99 or best offer, beats paying $16 for it at the John Deere dealership.Ebay no.-120675114226.Might save you a few bucks if that is one of the bushing's that your tractor calls for.I went ahead and bought 2 new one's for mine, probably could have just used my old one's and everything would have been alright since I had some extra shims leftover.
