Mowing john deere 212 help please

hello, is this the proper place to ask for help ?my john deere 212 wont shift out of first gear.anybodys help would be appreciated.

Can you tell us what took place prior to getting stuck in first gear?

Where is it sitting now? on a hill, by chance?

Used for just mowing, or are there other attachments ??

Have you tried rocking the tractor back and forth a bit?

thank you for your reply. yes i managed to get it into 2nd gear and then the motor locked up and shut off.

and that is where it sits.

thank you for the replies.i couldnt get it go go into reverse.i use it to mow in the summer.its stuck in my front yard on level ground.i was stuck in first gear ,i managed to get it into 2nd gear,the engine stopped i cant shift it it out of 2nd gear.

Sounds like it is in both first and second gear.. which locks it up.
Need to take a look in the transaxle, to find out what is wrong here. Should have nothing to do with the engine, except being a dead, locked load.
However, maybe other problems involved as well.
