Hello,

Does anyone know where this is located on the tractor? Reason being is that I suspect it to be failing as I'm starting to have a hard time lifting bales with the JD 175 loader that is attached to it. Fluids were changed in the fall, filter and screen was all taken apart by myself and there wasn't much of anything that came from the screen.

I heard about shim kits? But will need to test out the pressure before tweaking.

I doubt very seriously that your tractors pressure relief valve is the problem for your tractors inability to raise a rd bale on the FEL but here's a parts photo of the valve. It's on the RH side of trans case behind the hyd filter. HAVE YOU CHECKED STAND-BY pressure? It should be 2250 but 2350 is better.

Hi Tx Jim, Thanks for responding!

I am going to build a gauge this week to test. Is the best place to test off the pump or using the rear remote?

I thought that part on the tractor was to ensure that the tractor always had power steering when using other attachments with how the fluid would flow in priority? With that said, maybe we are on to something else as I notice sometimes if I'm standing still using the loader and I try to turn the steering wheel its as if I don't have any power steering. Its super hard. And as soon as I start to move I get my power steering back. Using the loader sometimes, and I mean maybe happens 10 times a year, jerks the steering wheel around so maybe this part you are showing me needs a rebuild and not a shim kit?

1st thing to do is check stand-by pressure. Checking at remote breakaway will be fine. You'd be surprised how much an extra 100 #s of stand-by pressure will help operation of FEL.

So just plug it into the quick connect fitting and move the SCV to dead head the pump?

Forgot to also ask, if the pressure is lower than lets say 2000lbs on stand by, what else do I need to investigate? I ask ahead of time since my tractor is 1hr away from me on my farm, so I'd like to try as much as I can while I'm there and report back to you.

If stand-by pressure is low try "screwing in" stroke control valve adjusting screw on the frt pump

Hi Tx Jim; Which number on either of these diagrams is the adjustment screw to turn if that's what I need to do? This weekend won't be too cold so I'm hoping I can get to it then.

Can't dead head the pump. It's a variable stoke closed Center eight piston radial pump.

May I ask you to clarify your statement?

bigblock76 can plug a 3000 # gauge in rear breakaway coupler and hyd oil will be dead headed into gauge which will be stand-by pressure..

The pump can be dead headed , won't burst a component and doesn't need a relief valve. A positive displacement fixed flow pump if dead headed will stall or break something.

I thought you stated earlier it couldn't be dead headed????? I hope you make better decisions at your Nuclear JOB !!!!

Ok thanks. Looks like that should be easily accessible from underneath the tractor. Can it be done with the engine running or best when its off?

Yes it can be adjusted with engine running.

My 2120 JD has a power steering issue. Power steering will stop working after about 30 minutes. Let tractor sit for about 5 minutes and it starts working again for a while. Any suggestions on causes and solutions? Thanks
