John Deere 2305 FWD input shaft replacement

I just bought a 2009 JD 2305 that has the input shaft snapped off approx. 1 1/2" outside of the transaxle,can the shaft be replaced without removing transaxle from the tractor?It appears the cover/plate can be removed fairly easy but I just want to know if there's any parts/gears that could fall out of place when I pull the old shaft out.If anyone has done this replacement before I would deeply appreciate your input,also the repair steps & pics from a shop manual would be appreciated as well!If anyone has a shop/repair manual for the 2305 (I think the 2210 is pretty close to the same manual as well) that's no longer needed and you want to sell it please let me know.Thanks in advance for any help/guidance you can provide!

Hey there, I'm wondering how much of a task this was for you as mine just snapped off on the exact same tractor. I am also wondering if removal of the transmission was necessary...
