John Deere 318 Starter Won't Crank

A couple of simple things to check, make sure your PTO switch is in the off position, that would be down. And make sure your hydro lever (red knob) is in neutral way over to the left, hold while you turn the key to be sure it is contacting the micro switch. Also make sure the seat safety switch is working correctly and double check all of the wiring that you have added. It's got to be something simple, the hard part is finding it.

DO YOU HAVE ANY LIGHTS WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY ON ? THERE ARE FUSE ON THE SIDE BY THE BATTERY, IHAD ABURNT OUT FUSE CONNECTOR. MY STARTER HAD THE SOLNOID ON THE STARTER.

My cranking problem was solved by replacing the battery. It was a two year old JD with 110 hours on it.
No load it measured 12.77 volts but apparently it had an internal problem that caused the voltage to drop when a load was put on it.
I kick myself for not trying to jump start the battery even though it appeared to be fine. Or not pulling it out and bringing it to an auto shop for testing.
When told of the solution, all of my friends jumped on the 'I told you so' bandwagon. It's easy to diagnose a problem when you know the solution.
