John Deere 325 Lawn & Garden Tractor

I just picked up a used 325 with a 54C mower, 42" snow thrower, 48" blade and 30" tiller. It runs great and seems to be in good condition. Anyone have one of the newer 300 series? Any quirks that I should be aware of?Thanks!

Congratulations on the new work ride !!!

My Dad has the 335 , nice Tractor ... Not really a quirk but , he had the hood
up checking the oil level and the wind caught it slamming it shut which
caused a chunk of hood to bust out , the dealer quoted him something like
$400.00 for a replacement and that's not including decals ...

We've had our 325 (also 17hp) since 1998. After some big initial problems -- it originally had a major engine defect that was rectified under warranty -- it's run great with very few problems. It's real workhorse, and we really beat the heck out of it. That tiller has been fantastic for us and our 2500 square foot garden. Thatand a 54" mower are the only attachments we have. We use a larger tractor for blading and snow removal -- I'd expect that the 325 would not do so well during the winter in the upper midwest.

A couple of years ago we had to replace the mower drive belt and the tractor's main drive (transmission) belt that goes from the front to back on the left side. A couple of tires/wheels. And one very recent oil leak due to a bad oil pressure sensor. And that's it for 10-plus years and 800-plus hours. Just do the routine maintenance, remove the battery when storing it for the winter, and it just keeps going (knock on wood). The only thing I can't stand where they stuck the spark plug -- it's kind of a pain to get to.

From your description, I'd say that 325 is going to provide you with many years of great service.
