john deere 345
Hi all. I have a john deere 345 and it stopped running as I was mowing one day. I Started it back up and when letting the clutch out it would die. I then traced it to the seat switch. I replaced the switch and it started working just fine for about a half an hour. It then shorted the seat switch again. I bypassed with a jumper wire and it blew the fuse. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Somewhere between the switch and the relay/fuse, the insulation around the wire is likely either worn or burned away. When pressure or vibration causes the bare spot to touch metal, that's all she wrote.

Thank you Greg. The wire was pinched between the deckstop and the deck adjustment rotor under the floor board and fenders. When the deck was all the way lowered it would pinch and short out. When the deck was raised it would not pinch therefore run fine. Thanks for the help Greg.
