Oil & Fuel John deere 4020 water in hyd fluid

JD 4020 keeps getting water in hydraulic fluid. I have heard that a gasket under the floor plate in the cab can go bad. Has anyone had this problem. Never has done it in 20 years-now twice in about a year. Tractor does sit out in weather. Thanks, J.

Check breather in hyd filler cap to be sure it's not clogged. When you start tractor do you operate it long enough to get up to 200°F? I have heard of trans cover gasket leaking water before today. Replacing gasket on tractor with a cab would not be an easy task.

I checked filler cap and it seems ok. I usually run it long enough to heat up. I was looking on another site and a man said the floorplate would come up to access cover and gasket. I'm not there yet but I hope so. Thanks.

Yes footrest is removable but not easily while working through cab door openings. IIRC it's easier if one has an assistant helping lift footrest on opposite side. I think the Year-A-round & Hiniker cabs I sold back in the 70's could be tilted rearward for easier footrest access but not so with the Hinson or Stopler cabs .

According to another site the water drips down between the cab and hood sheet metal. Then onto top of tranny. This has happened to him.

id get to work on the sheet metal/cab gap, that sounds like a lot less work than getting under the cab plate/removing/reassembling etc....
