I am looking to buy a compact landscape tractor.....I have looked at the 4520 tractor....but there are few to be found now.(new)

I went to a JD show and test drove the 4052R with a cab.

Has anyone had any time on this machine, to let me know of any problems.

The 4520 tractor has been around for a while.....but with all the new emission changes now the 4052R has taken its place.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I think we're all waiting' around to see how they work out. I asked as much recently of new 4066R owner's and nary a peep...

I have a 4066r cab and have about 70 hrs on it. I too was hesitant due to the tier 4 and new design but I really liked all the new standard features and was tired of waiting. So far the only issue was the epto light doesn't illuminate when you shift pto lever. The dealer has been great I just haven't scheduled an appointed to have it looked at. I have seen the tractor go through two engine regen cycles and would not have noticed other then the light illuminated on the dash.

Thanks for posting Fred! Welcome to the forum.

Did you happen to get the down pressure kit on your 3 point hitch? If so, have you used it much, and do you think it is very helpful?

What do you mostly use the tractor for? Are the cabs any different from the 4x20 series? Or are they the same?

AKfish,
Are you planning on trading in the 4720?

AkFish I have read many of your posts over the years and thanks for the welcome. I don't have the downforce option since I have TNT and supposably it's not compatible. Hydraulically I have 3rd, 4th, 5th, electric diverter, and power beyond. So far I haven't needed the downforce option but I sure would like to try it. The cab is same as the 4x20 series. I use it mostly for landscaping and a large garden in summer. Currently I have the SB2176 loader mounted snowblower attached.

Welcome to TBN, Fred. Glad to have a fellow Alaskan on board. Where about are you located?

No, Piston not gonna trade anytime soon. I want to see how the new models work in the field for a year or two and go from there...

It sounds like you have it really well setup hydraulically! Much easier to do it factory, I had to add 4 hydraulic remotes on mine, and even doing the work myself, it still cost a pretty penny, and doesn't look factory.

I'd love to see a couple pictures of that snowblower setup after you get a good dumping of snow. :D

Yeah they offered free installation of all kits so I figured I might as well add them. Not the best photo but one of the wife plowing.

I ordered a 4052R Cab at the end of Oct. It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow morning. I have the 3rd,4th and 5th scv's along with all the lights, air ride and I have even had them fill the rears with Rim Guard. I have high hopes for this tractor. My TC40DA has been a great tractor but just wanted something with a cab and heat for plowing snow. I will let you know what I think of it as I get to know it.

Thanks.

No body around me has one. I demo one at a JD factory tour and it seemed like what I want. I will be doing mostly bush hogging.
And running a seed drill behind it.
I bought a NH workmaster 55 this year and it's been a good tractor so far. Just would like a cab tractor. It gets hot and humid here in the south.

Plus the mosquitos are bad in summer while bush hogging.
