I think what's going on here might be the 'you didn't buy it here' attitude. I think if your dealer gave you a discount than you should be happy. I'll bet if you bought the tractor new and this just showed up after all these years you find the dealer you bought it from having a different attitude.

I blew a shaft on a tractor that was out of warranty and my dealer made good on it with an improved shaft which means JD knew about it, just like your leak. The difference was that I bought the tractor new from him.

Goochy,

It is possible that this is the reason the tractor was traded in to start with. Your showing up armed with the proper information to repair the problem may have been a suprize to the dealer. Years ago I bought a Deere 4020 at a firesale price because the mechanic had missed an inline filter to the hydraulic pump.

I would put the retrofit vent kit on it and call it good. That gets you back to operating the new tractor and having fun.

I'm just going to fix it and move on . Now IF it does NOT fix it , dealer WILL fix it !!!!! It was bought NEW there , sold to me there , and he said it NEVER had this problem . BUT the owner never used bucket much !

I believe that and knowing Deere it very likely will fix it.
