Can anyone help with a water temp gauge going directly to hot. Tractor has new water pump, new thermostat, new belt and new water temp sensor. Could it just be a malfunctioning gauge?

Yes. The factory gauges are known for this problem. Your fuel gauge is next if it hasn't already.

If you want to keep it stock then you will have to suck it up and pay the John Deere price for a new panel.

There is an aftermarket panel available for a couple hundred but the seal doesn't fit it correct. I bought one and farted around with it for several hours before packing it up and returning it. Some people claim they got it to work with longer screws. You can see in the photos how the seal doesn't fit. Read the reviews and you be the judge.

I mounted a 3 gauge pod on my cowl and used generic gauges. It was a very detailed operation I won't attempt to guide anyone else through but I like how it looks and works.

These also defy common logic. When you disconnect at the sending unit they drop to cold or empty. Normally that indicates a bad sending unit. Not saying a sending unit can't fail but mine tested good.

Others have replaced sending units only to find the problem still exists.

The frustrating part is it is probably a 50 cent resistor or a bad solder joint on the board.

I resoldered all the connection pins and went over with an ohm meter but I weren't smart enough to figure it out.

If you figure out a cost effective repair for the instruments please post it.

Be careful with the fuel shutoff relay.
You might think that if you just put 12v power to that relay
that it would fix the problem WRONG
The solenoid will burn up if you use a constant 12 volts to it
