Are you gonna try to straighten the tie rod or get a new one?

I would try to straighten it in place first, depending where it's bent and making sure not to damage other parts.

Wood blocks, hydraulic jack, long pry bar. all things that could be used.

Good possibility this could be done...

jgraf, can you get pictures of the tie rod...before removal?

We did get the old one straightened out enough to drive back to the garage.
It looks like I will have to replaced it, the bend is still there but not bad. I have a pickle bar coming from a friend, if I can get it out I will replace it myself or will take it in.

Sounds like a plan.
Now, how did you bend it? Just so we can watch out for that trick.

We hooked a cable come-a-long to the draw bar bracket and a strap around the bent bar and cranked away. We had to put blocks under and on top to keep it from turning. We took a couple of different bits trying to get it as straight as possible.

That sounds like a great idea for fixing it. But I think beenthere wanted to know how you bent it the first time, how you damaged it.

That's the strange part, I was roto tilling my neighbors garden, was about 1/2 way done, turned around on the end to make another pass and noticed the wheels were plowing. I backed up on the grass and took a look, both wheels were toed in. We looked around and there was nothing that we could hit, the garden and lawn were flat, no stones or holes or gullies.
I'm thinking I might have bent it earier but did not notice it. With all the turning the force might have bent the already bent bar further. Just a guess.

JB can you tell me what the touqe is for the (4) bolts that hold the spindle to the axle? Thanks.

Another way to remove a tie rod end is to whack the eye (where the tapered bolt is housed) in a couple of places with a 2# hammer. Don't kill it - maybe like driving a 16d nail. The slight distortion of the socket allows the taper to release. This method also avoids tearing up the grease boot, and works most of the time.

I have an electrical problem when i engage the mower it blows the key on fuse. Does anyone have any ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can anyone post electrical schematic for the key on circuit.
