John Deere 4520 Cab - Which Backhoe

Not trying to hijack this thread but I have a question on this matter. I found a JD 448 BH on our local Craigslist for $6000 and intend on looking at it. It has approximately 50 hours on it and seems to be in good shape. I have a JD 4120 I intend on putting it on. My questions are: Is this a good price? What will I have to do to my tractor to attach it? Is power beyond, just the hydraulic connections on the back (I have two there now). Is there anything I should look out for when looking at this BH?

I just bought a new 485 BH a couple of mos ago. If the 448 is anything like the 485 you will need the Power Beyond Kit and the attachment frame for the 4x20
tractor series. According to my local JD dealer the 448 was replaced with the 485 and the 448 is no longer available (new). I paid a little less than $8K for a new 485 BH, PB Kit, attachment frame, and installation labor. If it were me, I'd go the extra money for a new 485 BH.

I was thinking that was high. The seller said this BH was on a 4120, so would'nt the mounting plates already be there? Thanks.

Definitely have answered that you need the newer model 485 BH - given that you've got a cab 4520.

But really haven't answered the question if that's the solution to the kind of work you have in mind...

Lot's of digging projects? Installing/replacing culverts - cleaning out drainage ditches - building new drainage ditches? Irrigation project/projects? = Excavator.

Or just a few stumps? New leach field for your septic system? Bury that old cow? = Backhoe.
