John Deere 4600 MFWD will not engage

Update: Since I didn't have the time on days it wasn't raining, I sent it in to get looked at. I just got a call from the shop. Apparently, this axel has been apart before. It is missing a axel shaft in the differential. I am waiting on a price for the shaft and seals. This tractor was purchased recently at an auction. Lesson learned.
