Recently I purchased 2 different Ford 101 3 bottom plows to restore. I was planning on using them with my Ford 7710 FWA tractor. In researching the setup, I learned that the wheel spacing on my 7710 was not correct to run the 101 properly. Seem a 4000 series tractor would be better. A friend of mine has this Deere 5 bottom semi mount plow and has offered it to me for nearly nothing provided I will drive 100 miles to pick it up.

1) Is this a good plow?
2) Will my tractor handle it?

had one exactly like that in the UK . Covered a lot of ground quickly but with little finesse , boards were a bad shape compared to other ploughs we had at the time like ransomes or kverneland , Used on a ford 6600 most of the time .

That style was the last decent plow John Deere made. Unless you are plowing heavy crop residue, it should work well.

I just bought a 3 IH bottom semi mount and for the same reasons. The smaller old style plows wont track correctly. I haven't used it yet.
