Inherited this tractor from my Dad who bought it new (1995). It has only 85 run hours and is used to shred or disc 3 acres a few times a year. When I hooked up to the shredder, it lifted a usual. When I got to the field, it would not lower. I called a dealer, who said that the rockshaft valve may need cleaning. I have removed the seat, rockshaft/draft handles and shroud. I also jacked up the shredder on 3 sides to take some weight off the 3-point hitch.
Questions:
1. Are the parts to be serviced/cleaned contained in the approx. 2" x 2" casting that has the rockshaft and draft control levers on the outside end?
2. How to get to the rockshaft valve? I assume it is inside the rockshaft housing.
3. Will there be hydraulic pressure on that part? If so, how or where is the safest best way and place to release the hydraulic pressure?
4. How much oil will I have to catch?
5. How and with what should the valves be cleaned?
All help and info appreciated.
