My cab 5525 will not turn over, when I turn the key none of the gauges or lights come on but when I turn the light switch on the dash on the head light and blinkers work but nothing when I use the key....why don't I have power going to the ignition?

Start by cleaning battery cables & ground, then check fuses.

:welcome:

One way to find a short, and not keep blowing fuses, is to rig a 12v bulb to plug into the fuse spot. If a short, the bulb lights up. When the short is tracked down (moving wires around, or lifting them from their terminal) then the light goes out. Saves blowing fuses.

Which fuse are you blowing? I have a include a link to your operators manual.

If it is "26-Fuse F18, 10-Amp: Fuel Shut Off Solenoid, HVAC Relay, Elx Relay, Seat Switch, and Wheel Speed Sensor ", I believe the problem is the thermistor sensor (thermistors are temperature variable resistors used as sensors.). On the thermostat housing there is a sensor that is connected to a two wire harness that goes to the injection pump; this is the "cold start advance" portion of the system so it starts easier when cold by advancing the timing.

When the sensor on the thermostat housing fails it shorts out and blows the fuse. Try unplugging it, replace fuse and see if it starts and runs. The part # is RE503242, if you are quick changing it, you don't have to drain the coolant, just make sure it's not hot at the time. You will want a pan under the tractor to catch the coolant, so as not too have to clean it up.

If it is not this fuse let use know which one.

You can disconnect the CSA & it will still start . It has been a big problem with the 5000 series, including mine.

One would think after over 20 yrs of CSA failures JD engineers would have arrived at a solution to the sensor failures but I guess they enjoy the parts revenue.:D

Reviving an old thread…
What if you’re having this exact problem with the same fuse being blown but the CSA (cold start advance) is not the problem. I’m having the same issue and I’ve unplugged the CSA but still having the F1 key switch fuse being blown as soon as the key is turned on.

4320 blows fuse when you turn on ignition switch . lights & acc work with switch off . Have changed ign switch and have disconnected thermostat sensor . still blows. I was just taking tractor to shed when it just died . Any advise besides thaking it to jd dealer and paying $159 / hr ?

Welcome to TBN
Put a light bulb in place of the fuse that blows. Then look for what is shorted out. When the bulb goes out, you have found the problem.
