hi fuses all fine all relays seem to click at right times transmission oil changed yearly and filters would a stuck solenoid stop engine turning over ? thanks
If the engine cant tell that its in Neutral, yes, it wont start w/ the key.. {bad solenoid}
Just run a long "jumper wire" to power it. {alligator clips to battery} to see if it clicks.
hi thanks for reply i have checked solenoid on side of engine there is no feed off key to power it up if you cross it with a jumper lead it works but when keyed theres no input to engage solenoid if you do cross it engine starts fine but still no power at left hand reverser when engine running if you just key on engine not running relays click in fuse board for the forwards and backwards
OP mentioned that he had an electronic power reverser. Might want to check to see how it's changing direction. Could be a failed direction solenoid and it has some kind of neutral safety switch hanging off of it preventing starting. It would seem also a failed solenoid would also prevent the tractor from engagement forward or reverse.
Just to close this thread if any one is reading it the problem turned out to be a spring loaded hydraulic valve which runs from front wheels to back wheels in the aluminium casting on the bottom of the gearbox this operates on a spring when tractor is not running and is forced across closing the neutral start switch(creating a circuit to enable it to start ) as soon as tractor starts and oil pressure is fed into the valve it moves across and directs oil etc to enable forwards and backwards motion it took some finding but got there in the end thanks to all replys .
The valve in question is the one labeled "I" in the diagram. It is in the valve on bottom of transmission. It is the valve that contacts the neutral start switch when in neutral.
