John Deere 790 - where is the fusible link? A little help!

Nobody has mentioned battery cables, so I will. Be sure to clean all connections at battery and at the ground cable connection on the frame. In my experience, 90% of the time when there is a sudden loss of all electrical power, a bad connection or a bad battery cable is the culprit. The fusible link is just as the diagram that beenthere posted. It is right by the starter about 3 inches from the battery cable connection.

Ding ding, ding, winner!!! Today I was able to look at my tractor and figured out that the culprit was a bad ground cable that goes from the (-) post to the chassis. The terminal on the battery post end had been replaced with one of those cheesy replacement terminals that just clamps down onto the wire. On this one, the inside diameter of the replacement terminal was shaped like a cone, and the only place it was making decent contact with the post was at the very top of the battery post. Plus, the heavy gauge wire where it goes inside the clamping portion of the terminal had lots of corrosion on it. A short trip to O'Reilly's about 12 miles away and I procured a brand new black cable for the negative post. Got it installed now and it's cranking just fine!

I also got the fan belt tightened up too. That's what threw me off, it was so loose I was thinking that the alternator was not able to keep the battery charged up, and that somehow led to the fusible link opening up. My tractor is about 60 miles from me, and when it first happened, I had no tools or a meter with me, so I wasn't able to make any real checks on it. All I had was the charger that I could hook up to it and see what it was trying to tell me. Anyway, I learned a little bit from it (where the fusible link is). Thank you for all the replies & advice.
