Had the battery, starter, and Alternator (or whatever that belt connected item is called) all tested and they indicated they were all fine. Put it all back, took connections apart and cleaned all contacts. Still won't start. All was fine, when I shut here down last month.

Getting fuel? Cranking or not cranking? Battery cables rotten internally? Lights work? Transmission left in gear ?
You have to tell us some info.

Does the solenoid make an audible "click" but the electric starter does not spin?

Does the electric start spin, but not engage the flywheel?

Does anything at all happen when the key is turned to "start"?

Everything in "neutral" that needs to be in neutral? (Tried cycling all levers through their range of motion and then returning them to neutral?)

Make sure your pto is not engaged. Also Check the switch under the seat. Make sure its working properly

No noise from solenoid. When turned to warm-up mode, all acted right. Dash lights come on and there are clicks in dash (as usual) but none at solenoid. No spin of electric start. For sure in neutral and clutch is depressed. Yes, tried cycling through, nothing happens but the usual warming noises. Had this tractor since it was brand new. Work it almost every day, but for the last month. Never any starting problems, even in dead of Maine winter. Have 1800' drive-way that it and the 64" snow blower knock out without a glitch, each year.

Engaged and disengaged pto. jumped off and on the seat but not sure what to look for, all looks okay.

Well, am not a mechanic, and know nothing of that specific model, but if it were me, I would jump 12 volts directly to the solenoid to see if it, and the electric starter, work OK.

If it does, then it's a matter of tracing and trouble-shooting, by-passing parts of the system (such as safety switches) to isolate the problem.

A service manual and wiring diagram would help you. Apply current to the wrong place and you could do some damage.

I'm OBVIOUSLY no mechanic either, just trying to fix it as cheaply as possible; just a poor retired GI.

"...Work it almost every day, but for the last month..."

Any signs of mice chewing on wires anywhere?

No chewing anywhere. Had a snake living in it, but no chewing

Did you try to energize the solenoid directly? A jumper wire from the battery cable to the small solenoid lug should show a spark and make the starter spin. Make sure you're out of gear, of course.

Problem is the safety switches stay bypassed to save time and money because the job has to be done now. Hear that a lot at funerals.

You're probably correct.

In my short time of dealing with a tractor i have already come across a fuel filter/strainer that was bypassed, rather than repair/replace the broken fuel shut off valve that is integral with the filter. Running unfiltered #2 straight into the injector pump.

When I took the battery, alternator, and starter all to the mechanic, he made it work and all checked out on all three pieces. There's also power at the ignition. I need to check from starter to ignition and find the switch from clutch to starter
