John Deere 835M

Looking at 590m or 835m with cab. What % below retail do you think you paid for your 835. Trying to determine my price on the gator. I live within a country block of the John Deere dealer, but I have always had kubota.

I want the cab and heater but no a/c, will take doors off during summer. Oh I did stop by kubota and looked at the new gas kubota, dealer is giving me a price for that on monday.

Thanks in advance.
Curious how much the Kubota dealer discounted off the retail/build-your-own price? I have no idea if my expectation should be in the 5 to 10% range like a tractor or what.

Ok, so my FIL finally put the initial 8 hours on his 835M and JD recommends an 8 hour service that consists of:
Change engine oil and filter
Check the lug nuts tightness
Check the brake fluid

I went by Deere and the service dept said it would cost roughly $80-90 dollars...

Me being the DIY kind of guy, I told the FIL, I would do the service for him. 3 qts of oil and an oil filter for under $15. Got a receipt to show it was for the 835M 8 hour service (to keep the warranty intact).

HOLY CRAP DID THEY EVER TIGHTEN THE CRAP OUT OF THE OIL FILTER ONTO THE ENGINE!!!

I recommend you put some marks on your old oil filter in place, and take it in to Deere to let them change it the first time. Make sure they put a new filter on, (which is why I said to mark the old one).

The oil filter is on the front of the engine, just under the exhaust manifold. I broke my small plastic handle strap wrench first. Then I tried some long pry bars to try and chisel it from the left side...no luck.

Then I said F it and pulled off the exhaust manifold to expose the oil filter and put my Klein strap wrench on the filter and it finally turned a little. It took almost a full turn before it finally was loose enough to unscrew by hand.

Put the new filter and exhaust back on and wrapped it up. (I've had a quik change oil service tighten a filter too tight on my chevy 350 truck engine, and man did I curse them when taking it off the next time.)

I use a wide jawed visegrip on oil filters. Pretty typical for factory installed filter to be cranked down WAY too tight

I’ve often said that Deere needs to switch the guy putting on oil filters with the guy putting on lug nuts at the factory. It would solve 2 problems.
My 865 oil filter was extremely tight too. I’m not sure if the Yanmar is better or worse to get at compared to the Cherry engine. At least the oil change interval is allot longer with the diesel.
