john deere 855 pto blows fuse when I sit on seat

funny you mention the key as last year the tractor died in the middle of the road and I made a jumpset wire from the starter. so first I turn the key to the on position then touch the wires together to get the starter to engage. do you think cause that part of the ignition is messed that could be the case?

just the pto I could not get off the tractor without it shutting off. then after 1998 it would stay on when I got off the tractor. the tractor would stay running always like it should.

With you off the seat and standing next to it, the tractor shouldn't start or stay running if things were normal.

Not so with 855. All the seat switch does is complete a circuit to an interlock that engages a magnet to engage the PTO. If you get off the seat, the PTO will disengage. The seat switch has nothing to do with the tractor starting or staying running.

From your description I'd say your problem is electrical in the seat switch circuit.
