I have a 1992 John Deere 855 and the fan belt has not been replaced since I bought it. When I serviced it this year, I noticed that the fan belt felt like it was about ready to break, so I went out to the dealer and purchased a fan belt. Then, when I finished servicing it, I decided I would start trying to change the belt. Then I noticed that you can not get the belt off/on without taking the fan off. Just wondering if anyone knows how to change the belt. Thanks.

I guess,, you got to do,,, what you got to do,,,

My IH 404 required pulling the hydraulic pump to change the belt.

Some IH GT's required pulling the entire engine to change the belt,,,
so removing a fan seems like a cake walk.

Is there room between the fan and the radiator for the belt to slip by. If so,then you can just put the belt over one blade of the fan at a time.

Good luck,

Richard

Dude has two threads going on his issue with the belt.

I don't recall having much trouble replacing mine. I believe I did it as Richard suggested.
