The spring is really strong , how do I hoist the driveshaft back up in it? It seems like a stif effort going to be required to compress the spring that far while holding it up for installation.

I don't know the 870 but on the 850 you can pull the pin and take the tension off the spring pack the collar with grease, install the bearings and apply the spring tension then replace the pin.

Its so tight, I made a tool, wasnt without sone effort and could improve it on the outside chance I got to do one again. Even getting it in place was a challenge, took couple of us a few minutes of fiddling turning and timing a little and all of a sudden falls together
