As soon as we got to the farm we rinsed the calcium off with a garden hose, however we had to go then so i think our farmhand pressure washed it, that stuff is messy.

I saw a 9600 for sale today and it was a 97 so maybe they converted to ten series part way through 97?

Todays update:

Combine #3 (9510) The John Deere Dealer Says the A/C compressor is working but an internal piece is broken. :( A new compressor installed is about $1600. WE figure that an AC would be worth it though so we went ahead with it. The Header we bought with this combine we have decided we will sell and buy a better header. :)

9610, we bought a 36 foot MacDon header for it today, but will probably buy a smaller header (30 foot) as it would be torture on the 36 foot header in heavy Wheat. Here is a photo of the Header.

Thanks for looking!

Another update on the 9610! We figure that if this tire was done that the other one will probaly go during harvest so we will buy two new ones to save time, money, hassle during harvest, and a bunch of calcium in the field.

Mac Don makes a nice draper head and I agree it might be a little much in spots for a 9610. The crew on our farms tried one out and liked it but ended up going with 40' Deere drapers when the S690 combines where ordered.

Our custom cutter uses NOTHING other than MacDon headers and Deere combines. $80,000! Then again the new combines are about 450K! This MacDon that we bought was being run on a 9770 Deere.

Update:

1. My combine is ready to got to the field, we just need an adaptor for the PTO shafts on the header.

2. The 9610 needs new Straw Walker bearings, a part for the electric clutch, new fluids and filters, and a new belt.

3. We still need to look at it and give it a good run through.

4 We bought a Lexion 470 it is going into the shop on Monday.

5. We bought a 6620 will probably sell though...

Harvest went well...
1. My combine was great other than the cylinder speed being too slow for a while. My header has been great, but i figured out it does not like to eat rocks.:confused3: By the start of next harvest i will have almost all new guards. :cool2:

2. After getting the electrical gremlins out of the 9610 it worked just fine. The MacDon header needs a orbit motor though. we borrowed a friends 230 header this year.

3. the other 9510 ran well with a 224 header this year. My dad ended up running the combine.

4. Long story short the Cat/Lexion is a piece of garbage that we lost our money on. We plan on selling it and buying another 9610.

5. We plan on selling the 6620 in November.

Well been a while since i updated the thread, so i suppose i should. Harvest went alright.

9610-
We had a electrical issue with the 9610. Which caused us a day or two of downtime. The header that we rented for the 9610 last year wasnt available this year. However we had bought a tired one over the winter. The 930 head needed a new(er) reel, we had found one in SD, and rushed up there to get it. WE ghot that swapped, the header still was not feeding right though, so we replaced all of the gaurds which helped some, the main thing was the header needed a good shining up. We also replaced the Cylinder bars this year, and are planning on replacing the concave screens this winter (still running corn ones). We also replaced the reverser on this combine this year ($5200 + labor  ). The first time we needed to reverse the feederhouse (in the field) it wasnt working, it was a pinched wire, or unplugged wire, or cable (i dont remember).

My 9510-
The fountain auger gearbox decided to give up the ghost this year, so did the belt that runs it (15 foot long belt). I also had to replace a bearing on the on the clean grain elevator. That is all i can think of for my combine.

Dads 9510- Ran well this year, however had a couple of issues im not thinking of atm.

Lexion 470- We actually cut about 150 acres with this combine this year, however the combine still has lots of issues, and we had a hard time finding someone to run the combine.

JD 9650-
We bought a 9650 Green Star Ready, Maurer Bin Ext., 30.5L32 Tires (60%), 16.9R26 Rear rubber (60%), Approx. 1800 Seperator Hrs., Chaf Spreader
JD 930 30 ft. Wheathead w/ New Style JD Hookups, snH00930P631837
Unverferth HT30 Header Trailer, 4 Wheel
This combine is one of the last straw walker combines made, so we feel we have a great advantage there, at this time rotors were new technology. A 9650 could be bought as a straw walker, or a rotor. The guy sold the combine because he could not find a operator for it.
